Code of Conduct

New Richmond Youth Hockey Association, Inc. (NRYHA) is a private organization, which emphasizes the development of basic hockey skills and the promotion of hockey as an enjoyable recreational activity. Players, coaches, and parents are expected to interact with each other in a positive manner so that the hockey experience remains a pleasant activity for all participants.

As a reminder, all members agree and sign this code of conduct during the registration process.


PLAYER & PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT


New Richmond Youth Hockey Association, Inc. (NRYHA) is a private organization, which emphasizes the development of basic hockey skills and the promotion of hockey as an enjoyable recreational activity. Players, coaches, and parents are expected to interact with each other in a positive manner so that the hockey experience remains a pleasant activity for all participants.

PLAYERS

  • I will conduct myself at all times in a way that reflects positively upon myself, my parents/guardian(s), friends, teammates, coaches, and NRYHA.
  • I will not use alcohol, tobacco products, or illegal drugs at any time. (Penalties for use of alcohol, tobacco products, or illegal drugs at any time will be a minimum 30-day NRYHA suspension.)
  • I will abide by USA Hockey’s Zero Tolerance Policy.
  • I realize that swearing, bad language, and disrespectful conduct has no place on or off the ice. (Penalties for swearing, bad language, and/or disrespectful conduct will be assessed following each team’s/coach’s discipline policy.)
  • I will respect NRYHA’s property, as well as the property of other ice rinks, facilities, restaurants, hotels, etc. and will take steps to prevent damage or theft by me or any other team members whenever necessary.
  • I will abide by team rules provided by my coaches. I realize coaches are volunteering their time to help the team. I will show them respect at all times, follow their instructions promptly and will accept their decisions without complaint or criticism.
  • I am making a commitment to my team to attend all games and practices. If I am unable to attend, I will inform the coach at least one day in advance. I will practice hard, play hard, and graciously accept the outcome.
  • I will follow all of the rules of the sport and will show respect for all participants in the game of hockey. I realize referees and officials are a part of the game and I will accept their calls without complaint or any sign of criticism.
  • I realize that hockey is a TEAM sport. I will conduct myself in the best interest of my team. I will make an intentional and purposeful effort to maintain a positive hockey culture at all practices, games and hockey events.


PARENTS

  • I will set an example and conduct myself in a way that reflects positively on all participants, other parents and NRYHA.
  • I will encourage my player in a positive manner and will refrain from criticizing his/her performance. I will emphasize the importance of achieving common goals through teamwork. I recognize that hockey is a game played for FUN.
  • I realize that the coaches are volunteering their time for the best interest of the team. I will not confuse players by countering the coach’s orders or instructions. I will follow team rules and will encourage my player to follow those rules. I will support the coaches in whatever way I can.
  • I will abide by USA Hockey’s Zero Tolerance Policy. I realize that referees will make calls with which I may not agree. I will refrain from displaying any criticism of referees or their decisions. I will accept the outcome of all games without seeking to place blame.
  • I will respect NRYHA’s property, as well as the property of other ice rinks, facilities, restaurants, hotels, etc. and will take steps to prevent damage or theft by me or any other team members whenever necessary.
  • I will volunteer my time and support NRYHA to whatever extent I am able.
  • I will make an intentional and purposeful effort to maintain a positive hockey culture at all hockey events. All players and parents are subject to disciplinary action by NRYHA for violation of the Code of Conduct.


NRYHA has a written policy handbook available to every member. It is the member’s responsibility to read and abide by NRYHA’s policies. NRYHA reserves the right to terminate NRYHA membership in accordance with its policies when continued disregard for the rules disrupts NRYHA or team activities or when a member’s behavior is determined to be dangerous to others. I have read the above Code of Conduct, and agree to abide by it at all times.
